    Assam-Meghalaya land dispute: Assam-Meghalaya CM's hold discussions over land dispute

    Digital Desk: On 29 January 2022, the Honorable Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma met his Assam counterpart, Honorable Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma at Hotel Vivanta in Khanapara regarding the long-standing land dispute between the neighboring states.


    The meeting was also attended by Chief Secretary Jishnu Baruah and Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Prestone Tynsong.


    A total of 12 disputed areas were identified in the meeting, out of which 6 disputed regions are settled by both states.

    The region are, Hahim , Gizang, Tarabari, Bakhlapara , Pilingkata and Ratachera .


     The government of both states have decided to resolve the long-standing land disputes as soon as possible.


    The agenda of the meeting was to bring in a permanent solution to the inter-state land disputes.


    According to the previous discussions, Assam owns 18.51 kilometers of land, and 59 Kilometers of land dispute is yet to be solved.
