Assembly Elections 2022: Congress releases first list for Uttarakhand polls
Digital Desk: The Congress party has released its first list of candidates for Uttarakhand Assembly Elections 2022. The list was released on Saturday.

The party has announced its nominees for 53 of the 70 seats in the Uttarakhand Assembly Elections 2022.

Uttarakhand Congress chief Ganesh Godiyal will compete in the Srinagar constituency's Assembly election. Meantime, Yashpal Arya and his son Sanjeev Arya, who left the BJP and united with the Congress in October 2021, will contest the election from Bajpur and Nainital constituencies, respectively.

As per Election Commission information, Uttarakhand will hold its polls in a single day phase. Therefore, the Uttarakhand Assembly Elections 2022 will be held on February 14, 2022.

Moreover, the counting of votes will take place on March 10, 2022.

The earlier Assembly polls (in 2017) in Uttarakhand were carried out in a single phase. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 57 of the state's 70 Assembly constituencies last term.

This year, Uttarakhand Assembly elections will likely catch a three-cornered fight between the ruling BJP, the Congress-led by Harish Rawat, and Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party.
