BJP MLA Roopa Ganguly Breaks Down Over Birbhum Violence Case, Moves Zero Hour Notice in Rajya Sabha

The BJP MLA moved a zero-hour notice in Rajya Sabha regarding violence in West Bengal's Birbhum.

Digital Desk: BJP MP from West Bengal, Roopa Ganguly, burst into tears in response to the mass killing in Birbhum on Friday (March 25). She insisted on President Rule in the state, claiming that West Bengal's situation is worsening day by day.

In Rajya Sabha, Ganguly said, "Mass killings are taking place there. People are leaving the place due to fear. The state is no longer inhabitable."

Previously, she has moved a zero-hour notice in Rajya Sabha regarding violence in West Bengal's Birbhum.

Following the murder of TMC leader Bhadu Sheikh, a mob allegedly set fire to eight houses in the Rampurhat area of West Bengal's Birbhum on Tuesday.

In this case, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed, asking the central agency to investigate the matter. The court took cognizance of this case on Wednesday, and today the Calcutta High Court issued an order to the West Bengal police to hand over the case to the CBI.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee visited the Birbhum area on Thursday and interacted with the family members and relatives of those burned to death in the horrific incident. Banerjee said, "I never imagined something inhumane could occur in modern Bengal.

She also stated that the police would ensure that those responsible for the Rampurhat killings face possible severest punishment.
