BJP has brought in warlords from Gujarat to sow discord in the UP election: Akhilesh Yadav

Digital Desk: Akhilesh Yadav, the chief of the Samajwadi Party (SP), accused the BJP of importing workers from Gujarat to spread hatred and misinformation in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh.

Yadav asked the Election Commission to investigate the matter, stating that if this does not happen, elections will be tainted.

"I will ask my journalist friend to provide me with a list of Gujarati immigrants. I will write to the Election Commission, requesting that those who have arrived from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh are to be sent back as well." Yadav stated.

Further, Yadav claims that photographs circulating on social media show BJP activists from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state arriving in Uttar Pradesh to propagate rumours, conspiracies, lies, and hatred, in addition to distributing money.

After welcoming the former Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister, Dara Singh Chauhan, and Apna Dal (Sonelal) MLA, RK Verma, into the party, the SP president spoke to journalists at the party headquarters.

Reacting to Anurag Thakur's remark that SP leaders were either "in jail or out on bail," Yadav requested journalists to dig into Union minister Anurag Thakur's records in various ministries.

Anurag Thakur on Sunday, welcoming former Kanpur Police Commissioner Asim Arun into the BJP party, said that individuals who engage in rioting join the Samajwadi Party, while those who crack the whip on rioters join the BJP.

Regarding the former Kanpur Police Commissioner, Yadav stated that he will move to the Election Commission demanding that those officers who had been working with Asim Arun be kept away from polling stations or they will "double up as BJP activists."

"I am optimistic that the Election Commission will take action against these officials. If it does not, it will raise doubts about the integrity of the Election Commission." Yadav said.

Rakesh Tripathi, BJP spokesperson for Uttar Pradesh, commenting on Yadav's remarks, said, "Akhilesh Yadav is the leader of a state party, not a national one. He has been making unfounded remarks because he is terrified of the BJP. All of this indicates that he is attempting to determine the causes of his party's electoral defeat."
