Digital Desk: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee offered support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Ukraine issue and urged him to hold an all-party meeting to find a solution to it, reports said.

Mamata Banerjee wrote to the Prime Minister, emphasizing that the country is united in its support for the evacuation of stranded Indians in Ukraine, particularly in providing a swift hand to our students there in distress.

“I would request you to accept my unconditional support during the ongoing international crisis and to consider whether you will like to have an all-party meeting now for consolidating our national resolve to come out of the crisis with our head held high,” the letter said.

As the world’s greatest democracy, India must take the lead in offering a peaceful solution to the globe, and we must do it without any hesitation,” Banerjee said.

“... In times of grave international crisis, we keep aside our domestic disagreements to stand united as a nation. We do this to ensure that our dignity as a nation is unchallenged and unviolated. We do this to ensure that the principles on which we conduct our foreign affairs continue to be stable in the global arena,” the letter said.

The TMC supremo stated, “I underline our devotion to this long-standing principle of our polity throughout the current international crisis of the Ukraine War.”

“Since its independence, India has been recognized for its commitment to world peace and non-aggression, as well as its rejection of transnational invasion and meddling. I am confident that in guiding our diplomatic affairs during this crisis, you will lead us based on those enduring ideals,” Banerjee said.
