FAIMA calls for Nationwide Strike, informs Withdrawal of Healthcare Services

Digital Desk: The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has called out for a nationwide strike. FAIMA also informed that they would call for a complete withdrawal of healthcare services on December 29, 2021.

On December 27, there was a clash between the police and the doctors on the road. Both sides claim that many individuals have been injured on their side. The resident doctors, strengthening their agitation, symbolically returned their 'aprons' on Monday and carried out a rally on the roads.

The FAIMA also stated that local doctors were opposing peacefully. Regardless, they alleged that female doctors were brutally thrashed and lathi-charged by male police personnel during the protest in Delhi.

This protest is against the brute force of Delhi Police against doctors.

A statement released by FAIMA read, "This is to inform that the medical fraternity stands absolutely amazed at the sheer array of unprovoked brute force by Delhi police on our colleague who have been peacefully opposing in Delhi and many other states since the last month, with their genuine demand for the quick order of NEET PG 2021 counselling schedule."

The statement added, "However the lathi charge on our resident doctors and manhandling of many female residents by the male police personnel during their peaceful demonstration is a pathetic display of the shameless attitude of the authorities, who we could believe would stoop so low."

In a statement, the FAIMA called it a "black day in the history of the medical fraternity".

Meantime, AIIMS Resident Doctors Association (RDA) has even called for a strike on December 29. They have also stated that there will be a complete shutdown of all non-emergency services if no "adequate" answer from the government is received over alleged police brutality in the protest march.

Notably, doctors across the nation have been protesting against the delay in the NEET PG-2021 counselling process. In this regard, many resident doctors were protesting in Delhi as well.
