New Delhi: The nation's largest automobile fuel retailer Indian Oil Corporation has announced that it will set up 10,000 charging stations in three years.
Establishing EV charging stations and the production of green hydrogen will be part of the nation's net carbon zero plan that is supposed to be revealed soon.
The news comes two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced India's net-zero target by 2070.
"Electric Vehicles are now a reality. Indian Oil is all set up to flow over hurdles and support possibilities in this field. Our bouquet of services will now incorporate alternative power contributions. Including EV charging at our fuel pumps," said chairman Indian Oil S M Vaidya.
"This would provide certainty both to automobile companies to improve EV production and to clients for an uninterrupted drive, added Vaidya.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) announced plans to extend charging stations at 7,000 petrol pumps over the next few years.
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) also announced proposals to commission 5,000 charging stations in September over the next three years.
IndianOil intends to establish the charging stations in a phased manner. Initially, 2,000 stations will operate within the year. Currently, IndianOil has 448 EV charging stations and 30 battery swapping stations across the nation.
Indian Oil has collaborated with Tata Power, Power Grid Corporation and others to set up EV chargers at its fuel pumps.
IOC, the nation's largest fuel retailer, and refiner. It manages nearly a third of the nation's 5 million cylinders per day (BPD) refining capacity. In addition, the three state-run refiners manage almost 90% of the nation's retail fuel stations.
