While India continues to register new record high COVID-19 cases every single day, Union Finance Minister of India Nirmala Sitharaman has announced that the government does not plan to impose a National lockdown in India anytime soon.
On Monday, the Finance Minister spoke to various business and Chamber leaders and took their inputs on industry and association related matters.
The Finance Minister tweeted, "Spoke on telephone with each of the following business/Chamber leaders. Took their inputs on industry/Association related matters. Informed them that GoI at various levels from @PMOIndia is responding to #Covid management. Working together with states for lives and livelihoods."
Sitharaman informed that the focus will mainly be on creating small containment zones in the highly affected areas to control the spread of the virus. On Sunday, India reported 2,61,500 new COVID-19 cases and 1,501 fatalities.
