    Man from Assam arrested for buying stolen cars from Delhi thieves
    Digital Desk: Delhi Police Department detained a 45-year-old man from Assam for buying stolen luxury automobiles in the national capital area, as stated by an official on Sunday. He then used to sell these stolen cars in the North Eastern states.

    Motiur Rahman, a native of Islampur, Lakhimpur District, Assam, was named as the suspect.

    Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Monika Bhardwaj provided details regarding the case, stating that a team was formed to busts gangs involved in motor vehicle theft and the supply of stolen luxury automobiles.

    One of the suspected thieves, Akbar Ali, was captured with a stolen Brezza automobile on November 9, last year. During questioning, he admitted stealing a Baleno car from Hauz Khas and selling it to the accused Rahman, a receiver of stolen cars in Assam, and the stolen Baleno car was seized from Motiur Rahman's residence on his behalf.

    The police carried out many searches and raids, but the suspect, Motiur Rehman, eluded them. A non-bailable warrant was issued against him as a result.

    On January 10, a Crime Branch squad acting on a tip-off eventually nabbed the culprit Motiur Rahman from Dimapur, Nagaland, the officer said.

    During questioning, accused man from Assam Rahman, admitted to his participation in the case.

    He was then placed on police detention, and the team, together with the accused, was dispatched to the Imphal, Manipur in order to apprehend the companions and retrieve the stolen cars. During the inquiry, a raid was carried out at the request of the accused at Kiyeto's hideouts in Thilixu, Dimapur, Nagaland, and a stolen Baleno automobile was seized.

    Kiyeto, the car's receiver, disappeared from the scene.

    Following this, the police squad, together with the accused Motiur Rahman, travelled to Imphal, Manipur, searching for his associate Nobha and recovering the stolen cars, according to the DCP. After that, searches were carried out in various parts of Imphal, Manipur, and discovered six additional high-end automobiles.

    All of these automobiles were stolen in Delhi and afterwards sold by the accused with the assistance of his connections in the North-Eastern states of Kiyeto and Nobha. Two Maruti Baleno automobiles, two Toyota Fortuner cars, four Hyundai Creta cars, one Maruti Brezza car, and one Toyota Innova car have all been recovered thus far.
