    Manipur Assembly Election: On-Duty Police Officer Killed in Firing
     

    Digital Desk: A Manipur Police officer was killed in a "suspected incidence of unintentional firing" from his service rifle during the first phase of assembly elections for 38 seats in the northeastern state on Monday, Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Agarwal said.

    The incident occurred in the Churachandpur district's Tipaimukh assembly constituency. The police officer has been identified as Naorem Ibochouba, a native of Kakching district, Agarwal said.

    Agarwal expressing condolences on the officer's death stated that his remains had been airlifted to Imphal and then sent to a state-run hospital for autopsy.
