    PM Modi to hold Council of Ministers meet today

    Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi (PM Modi) will hold a meeting today with the Council of Ministers. As per sources, the meeting will take place at around 4 pm today. 





    The most crucial topic for this meet is to discuss measures that need to be taken amid the nation's increasing number of Omicron cases.





    Moreover, all the ministers are expected to be present in the meeting. The discussion matters include upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and other states.





    Additionally, the meeting will review the work of the Road and Transport Ministry and Civil Aviation and Telecom ministries. 





    PM Modi had chaired a review discussion meeting last Thursday. During the review meeting, he has asked senior officials to hold a high angle of surveillance and alertness.

    Modi stated that Omicron cases in the nation are rising. In this view, people should be alert and take proper precautions for safety. 





    He further stated that the fight against the pandemic is not over. Therefore, the need for continued commitment to Covid protocols is of vital significance even today.





    PM Modi correspondingly provided recommendations for accelerating the testing to quickly identify patients for timely containment and treatment.





    There is a gradual increase in the number of positive cases in the nation. The new variant Omicron has started creating threats among individuals.





    India has so far logged 653 cases of the new Omicron variant. These numbers have been detected across 21 states and union territories (UTs). The latest data presented by the Union health ministry, out of 653, around 186 individuals have recovered or migrated from the nation.  





    Maharashtra recorded 167 cases, followed by Delhi at 165, Kerala at 57, Telangana 55, Gujarat 49 and Rajasthan 46. The crisis in the national capital is quite worrying as it registered 331 new coronavirus positive cases on Monday, the highest single-day rise since June 9, 2021.
