Sanjiv Kapoor appointed as CEO of Jet Airways

According to Jet Airways, Sanjiv Kapoor will begin working for Jet Airways on April 4.

Digital Desk: Jet Airways appoints Sanjiv Kapoor as its new chief executive officer on Friday. His appointment comes days after the airline appoints Vipula Gunatileka, the former CEO of Sri Lankan Airlines, as the airline's chief financial officer.

Kapoor, who is currently the president of Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, has previously held positions with budget carriers SpiceJet and GoAir, as well as full-service carrier Vistara. According to the airline, he will begin working for Jet Airways on April 4.

Jet Airways is resuming operations under its new sponsors, the Jalan-Kalrock Consortium, after not flown since April 17, 2019.

"I always believe in investing in human capital, and by having Sanjiv as the CEO and Vipula as the CFO, I am confident that Jet Airways will reclaim its lost glory and will exceed everyone's expectations," said Murari Lal Jalan, lead partner of the Jalan-Kalrock Consortium and proposed non-executive chairman of Jet Airways.

Jalan added that Kapoor would be able to manage Jet Airways and will make it India's most loved full-service carrier.

Meanwhile, Sanjiv Kapoor said, "I'm excited to return to the world of flying. Even though Jet Airways has been out of business for three years, it continues to have a strong fan base of dedicated consumers who miss it every day and eagerly await its return to the sky."

He also stated that he is looking forward to lead the charge in resurrecting Jet Airways as the most favoured customer-oriented airline in the digital age.
