    West Bengal CM declares half-day holiday to mourn the demise of Lata Mangeshkar 
    Digital Desk: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced a half-day holiday on Monday to honour the legendary soul Lata Mangeshkar Ji.

    On Sunday, sad news has brought a gloomy atmosphere for India. The news of Lata Mangeshkar's demise has left everything at a standstill. She was a lady with a 'nightingale' voice and has given innumerable diamonds to shine forever in the Bollywood and music industry.

    Bengal CM Banerjee expressed that she was enthralled by Mangeshkar's voice and felt appreciative that she bore Bengal and the artists of the east dear to her heart and integral to her marvelous world of melody.

    "I pay my heart-felt tribute to the departed icon of India, Bharat Ratna receiver Lata Mangeshkar. While offering my sincerest condolences to her family and the billions of admirers that she leaves behind all over the world, I express my deepest sadness at the demise of the genius that the Nightingale of India truly was," the chief minister posted a tweet with this note.

    CM Mamata Banerjee further added," Like all her fans and followers across the planet, I was also mesmerized by her voice and renderings, and felt grateful that she held Bengal and the artistes of the East so dear to her heart and so integral to her magnificent world of music."

    Through a media channel in West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee announced that the state government would hold a half-day holiday on Monday to mourn the demise of the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar Ji. This half-holiday will also be observed in honour of Lata Ji.

    Lata Mangeshkar passed away at the age of 92 in Mumbai at around 8.12 am on Sunday due to multiple organ failures; her sister Usha Mangeshkar and doctors treating her voiced.
