Kanpur: Ahead of the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav is all set to begin his election campaign with a massive statewide rath yatra. The yatra which has been named as ‘Samajwadi Vijay Yatra’ will travel across the length and breadth of the state. Akhilesh Yadav embarked on the journey from Kanpur on Tuesday.
Throughout this campaign Yadav will be canvassing for the elections and galvanize support for the party. In a statement by the party it said that the objective of this yatra is to alert the people of the state about the autocratic, corrupt, and the suppressive strategies of the present BJP government.
A day before the beginning of this campaign the party also released a 17 second promotional audio visual where Akhilesh is seen interacting and touching the feet of his father Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Throughout the yatra Yadav will travel in a Mercedes bus turned rath, having posters of both Akhilesh and Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Speaking on the first day of the yatra from Kanpur, Yadav said that the Samajwadi Rath will run from Ganga to Yamuna. He also said that UP, which is a state of farmers, has been cheated by the BJP government. Yadav further added that if the current government is not removed it will crush the constitution under the same tyres that crushed farmers during the Lakhimpur farm protests.
