Andhra Pradesh: Gas leak at Vizag pharmaceutical firm, 2 dead

Two days after one worker died due to Ammonia gas leak in Kurnool, another gas leak incident has been reported at Sainor Life Sciences in Visakhapatnam’s Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City, Parawada, Andhra Pradesh. At least two people have died after gas leak at the pharmaceutical firm. They both were present at the leakage site.

The benzimidazole gas leaked at Sainor Life Sciences company in Visakhapatnam. The gas leak tragedy struck in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Four people have been hospitalised in the gas leak incident at Sainor Life Sciences Pvt Ltd. The sick have been taken to RK Hospital in Visakhapatnam where they are undergoing treatment.

Of the four, one is said to be in a critical state, while the three others are out of danger.

The situation is said to be under control now. The benzimidazole gas, which was not much of a danger than styrene, has not spread anywhere.

“Situation under control now. The two persons who died were workers and were present at the leakage site. Gas has not spread anywhere else,” Uday Kumar, Inspector, Parwada Police Station, was quoted as saying by a news agency.

Just two days ago, at least one worker died and three others were admitted to hospital after Ammonia gas leak incident at SPY Agro Industries in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.
