Artists detained for painting peasant leader Akhil Gogoi’s graffiti

Guwahati: Basistha Police in Guwahati detained few artists who were painting peasant leader Akhil Gogoi’s graffiti today morning.

The artists were painting Akhil’s graffiti on the walls of the flyover near Games Village. It has been speculated that the artists who were detained by the police were allegedly a group of art students belonging from different colleges and varsities and represent Anga Art Collective.

The graffiti was created to protest for Akhil Gogoi’s release. Gogoi has been in judicial custody since December 2019 for allegedly inciting violence during the Anti-CAB/CAA protests in Assam.
