Digital Desk: Urvashi Prasad, Director of NITI Aayog on Tuesday, accused former Amethi MP Smriti Irani of displaying misconduct, labeling her as arrogant and possessing an attitude that is highly objectionable. Prasad claimed that Irani had thrown her out of her office during a meeting where she intended to provide some recommendations.
In a post that has since been removed from X platform, the head of the government-affiliated think tank recounted her encounter with Irani's blatant arrogance in 2019. During her visit to Irani's office, Prasad sought to offer suggestions aimed at enhancing the performance of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, which Irani headed.
“I hope this defeat will teach you to be more humble if you do serve in the government,” Prasad wrote in the post.

Stating that individuals have the power to shape careers, she suggested that Irani might have mistakenly believed that Prasad had approached her seeking favors.
“Had heard from many people but had never paid heed to it, till I faced your sheer arrogance first hand in 2019, where you misbehaved and literally threw me out of your office where I had ironically come to offer some suggestions on how to improve the performance of the Women and Child Ministry… you for some reason and perhaps based on the counsel of your PS had assumed I was seeking a favour or role with you, which I definitely wasn’t,” she wrote.
Since January 2023, Prasad has served as the Director of NITI Aayog and has been recognized as one of the 100 most influential women in India for both 2023 and 2024.
On Tuesday, Union Minister and BJP leader Smriti Irani contested from Uttar Pradesh's Amethi but was defeated by Congress's Kishori Lal Sharma by a margin of 1.67 votes.
