Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will be meeting Home Minister Amit Shah in the national capital on Thursday to discuss the Assam-Mizoram border issue.
Sources said the Assam CM would meet Amit Shah and his Mizoram counterpart Zoramthanga in a meeting at a place of their choice.
The meeting was set at the request of the Home Minister, a report of Indian Express said.
Earlier, on the 165 kilometres of the Assam-Mizoram border, several disputes had been reported leading to a clash between the police and civilians.
Among them, the Kolasib-Vairengte incident on July 26 took the lives of six Assam police officials and one civilian, injuring several others.
Moreover, in its fresh episodes on Tuesday, the Assam government claimed that its counterpart constructed a road in the Southern Hailakandi district in Assam.
As per reports, the road had been constructed near Haticherra village inside the reserve forest over the last few days.
However, after receiving information, the Hailakandi police under the leadership of SP Gaurav Upadhyay stopped the construction.
Government Officials claimed that no construction works were going on now in the spot after being stopped by the Assam police on Tuesday.
