Citroen C3 Electric Launch Q1 2023, teased officially

Digital Desk: Citroen will soon release an electric car (EV) based on the C3 and is prepared to enter the Indian market for EVs. Citroen may benefit from the fact that well-known automakers like Maruti Suzuki and Toyota have not yet entered the segment. Its only genuine rival in the electric vehicle market is the recently debuted Tata Tiago EV.

Citroen will unveil the C3 electric car as part of its C-cubed programme for cutting-edge automobiles. Under this strategy, Citron plans to introduce a fleet of inexpensive, space-saving compacts. All of these vehicles are going to be built on the Citroen CMP chassis. India-made Citroen vehicles would aim to sell to overseas consumers in addition to the domestic market.

Given that Citroen intends to sell the C3 Electric for a fair price, it might have a range similar to the Tiago EV. To more effectively compete with the Tiago EV, it appears that C3 will have a significantly longer range. In a video, the future Citroen C3 EV has been hinted at.

The C3 will retain most of its gasoline-powered version's feature set. The highlights include voice controls using Siri and Google Assistant, a touchscreen infotainment system, and a wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto interface. The safety package also includes an engine immobiliser, speed-sensitive auto door lock, high-speed warning system, and rear parking sensors. Citroen and JIO-BP have a partnership for their charging infrastructure.

After C3 Electric's success in India, Citroen plans to launch a host of other products there. There will also be enough for larger vehicles like SUVs and MPVs. The factory where Citroen cars are currently made is located in Thiruvallur, a suburb of Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. To meet consumer demand, Citroen may think about raising production or even building brand-new plants.

For its electric cars, Citroen intends to attain a high level of localisation. The only substantial component that needs to be imported is the battery packs. According to the company's current evaluation, it might be impossible to locate sufficient local sources for batteries. If the situation changes, Citroen might switch to battery packs made in the area. Citroen has high hopes for the Indian EV industry, forecasting that by 2025, EV sales will represent 5–10% of all car sales in the nation. The company has predicted that by 2030, the EV market share might reach 25%.
