Digital Desk: The leading commercial vehicle manufacturer in India Tata Motors has inaugurated its modern Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Guwahati. The facility, named ‘Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect’ offers the capability to destruct approximately 15,000 end-of-life vehicles yearly through modern environmentally sustainable processes. The newly constructed Guwahati RVSF serves both passenger and commercial vehicles belonging to any brand. This facility is operated by Tata Motors partner Axom Platinum Scrappers, and is the seventh of its kind in India, following other centres in Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, Delhi NCR, and Pune.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by major officials including Shri. Jogen Mohan, Minister of Hill Areas Development, Transport, Co-operation, Indigenous and Tribal Faith & Culture; Shri. Ashok Singhal, Minister of Health, Family Welfare and Irrigation; Mr. Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors and Dr. Sanjive Narain, Director of Axom Automobiles. Several senior representatives from the Government of Assam and Tata Motors and Axom Automobiles joined the occasion.
Mr. Girish Wagh who serves as the Executive Director of Tata Motors, highlighted that the company’s RVSFs across seven states collectively have the capacity to dismantle over 100,000 vehicles annually. The facility handles hazardous material disposal of wastes such as tyres together with fluids and batteries to support India’s scrappage policy that seeks a sustainable and cleaner future.
Shri. Ashok Singhal praised the facility’s role, highlighting its environmental benefits to Assam since it would play a vital role in establishing a sustainable vehicle waste disposal system that serves both the local population and environmental preservation goals.
