L&T Technology Services (LTTS) was awarded the contract owing to its strong domain understanding and engineering competence in transportation technology.

Digital Desk: L&T Technology Services (LTTS) has won a multi-million dollar five-year contract from the German automaker BMW to supply high-end technical services for the company's suite of infotainment consoles aimed at its hybrid vehicle family.

The deal was awarded to LTTS because of its deep domain expertise and engineering leadership in transportation technologies, as well as the company's proven ability to offer unique opportunities to scale up existing projects and work on new ones, according to a statement issued by the LTTS on Monday.

"The LTTS team of engineers will provide services in the areas of software development and integration, infotainment validation, and defect management," according to a statement issued on Monday.

According to the statement, the company already operates a Near Shore Center that provides engineering and R&D services for BMW's infotainment consoles and hybrid electric cars.

In response to the news, LTTS's chief operating officer (COO) and board member, Abhishek Sinha, said the transaction demonstrates the company's long-standing experience in the automotive engineering services industry.

"Using new generation digital technology, our transportation engineering services enable major OEMs to design innovative and sustainable cars while also achieving faster time to market," Sinha stated.

Sinha stated that the agreement will boost LTTS' current relationship with BMW. He stated that the business is fully dedicated to leveraging its digital engineering skills and aiding with the introduction of BMW's new hybrid vehicle line.
