BJP leader arrested for firing at youth in Moranhat

Tinsukia: Police have arrested a local BJP leader who allegedly shot a youth at Moranhat in Upper Assam’s Charaideo district. Tinku Gogoi, a local BJP leader was arrested late on Friday night and a pistol was seized from his possession and 22 live bullets and four blank cartridges.

Gogoi had allegedly fired gunshots at a youth identified as Suman Karmakar during a party on Thursday night and injured him.

The accused reportedly threw a party on Thursday night on the occasion Viswakarma Puja at his residence at Thomson  Tiniali.

“We have arrested Tinku Gogoi from Dibrugarh and registered a case against him. Investigations are on,” a police official said.
