“Bone Death” a new concern for doctors, debilitating infection among post-Covid victims

Mumbai: A new condition has built concern and fear among doctors concerning post-covid victims. “Bone death” or “Avascular necrosis” is a situation that is causing fear following the outbreak of mucormycosis or black fungus infection among post covid sufferers.

Around three cases have been scientifically confirmed in Mumbai associated with decaying of bone tissue. These confirmed cases are producing a state of tautness for the coming days.

The usual factors within black fungus and avascular necrosis are steroids determined to help Covid patients.

Hinduja Hospital, Mahim, managed to treat the three young victims who suffered necrosis two months following they were treated for Covid19.

“These patients developed pain in their femur bone (the highest part of the thigh bone) and, since they were doctors, they recognized the symptoms and rushed for recognized,” stated Dr. Sanjay Agarwala, medical director of Hinduja Hospital, Mahim, was cited as stating by the press.

According to Dr. Agarwala’s research study, ‘Avascular necrosis as a part of long Covid-19’, it was published on Saturday in the prestigious medical journal ‘BMJ Case Studies.’

He additionally stated that the “large-scale use of life-saving corticosteroids” in Covid-19 cases would result in a “resurgence of AVN cases.”

Among 264 victims with black fungus in the state hospital in Tamil Nadu, 30 have lost sight in one eye, a top executive of the hospital stated on Sunday.

Presently, the three cases of bone death seem to worsen the state of recovering Covid 19 conditions in India.
