Digital Desk: The former leader of the Congress party who joined the saffron party has now asked for an investigation into Mughal ruler Shah Jahan's fourth marriage, courting yet another controversy on the Mughal dynasty from Assam BJP MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi.

In a media interview, Kurmi said: "What happened to Shah Jahan's other three wives if the Taj Mahal is viewed as the embodiment of his love for Mumtaz Mahal, his fourth wife? It is necessary to launch an investigation."

Built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in adoring memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj Mahal is a representation of love.

The white marble mausoleum is still regarded as one of the greatest architectural and artistic accomplishments and is listed by UNESCO.

The emperor was infatuated with one of the most stunning queens, also known as Mallika-e-Hindustani. In total, the couple gave birth to 14 children, but only 7 of them lived to adulthood.

On this day in 1631, the empress passed away while giving birth to her final child as a result of complications with her pregnancy. At a humble building on Yamuna's bank, her bones are buried in a gilded coffin.

On April 4, a Mariani-based Assam BJP lawmaker urged PM Modi to destroy the Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar and erect temples in their place.

Rupjyoti Kurmi urged Prime Minister Modi to demolish the Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar to construct the most magnificent temple in the entire globe while speaking to the media.

The MLA further argued that the temple's design should prevent any other institution or establishment from having a similar architectural style.

The MLA continued saying that he is prepared to sacrifice his entire income for one year for the building of the temples.
