Digital Desk: On May 6, Assam Police arrested Guwahati-based doctor Sangeeta Dutta near the Meghalaya border in connection with a child abuse case.
Dr. Sangeeta and her husband, Dr. Waliul Islam, have been accused of sexually assaulting their adopted underage daughter. Meanwhile, Dr. Sangeeta was on the run and hiding in a bungalow in Umsning, Ribhoi, Meghalaya. However, authorities were able to locate her and bring her to the Paltam Bazar police station late at night.
Walisa was a newborn when she was brought up in 2019 by prime accused Doc couples Sangeeta and Walliul Islam.
Sangeeta's husband, Dr. Waliul, is being held by police for five days in connection with the case. Meanwhile, the court has taken Lakshmi Rai, the caretaker who was also reportedly implicated in the affair, into custody.
The doctor duo are accused of being involved in a child abuse case, which came to light after child rights campaigner Miguel Das Queah posted about it on social media.
According to claims, a doctor couple chained their adoptive daughter to their terrace in the sweltering heat as punishment for misbehaving.
It has now also come to light that the child (Walisa) is unaware of her original parents, Walisa was a newborn when she was brought up in 2019 by prime accused Doc couples Sangeeta and Walliul Islam.

On Friday, a tragic incident occurred when an FIR was filed against Dr. Waliul Islam and his wife, Dr. Sangeeta Dutta, who was accused of child abuse. According to rumours, both prominent doctors abused their minor daughter for a long time.
Reportedly, as punishment, the two repeatedly tied the minor to a pole on the house's roof in the blazing heat. Surprisingly, the couple initially claimed to have adopted the child, but later stated that the infant was theirs and that IVF operations had been performed.
Dr. Waliul Islam and the caretaker were arrested on Saturday, while Dr. Sangeeta Dutta was arrested on May 6. The husband and caretaker were held by police for further questioning.
According to reports, "the Doc Couple Sangeeta Dutta and Walliul Islam violated adoption law and allegedly used them as sex toys," but no official confirmation has been made as of yet.
