Digital Desk: Oommen Chandy aged 79 years, a senior Congress leader who served as Kerala's chief minister twice, died in the early hours of Tuesday in Bengaluru, as reported by his relatives.
Chandy, who had not been feeling well for some time, was being treated in Bengaluru.
Chandy Oommen, the former Kerala chief minister's son, announced his father's death in a Facebook post.
"Appa has passed away," Son Chandy Oommen stated on his Facebook page, without going into any detail.

According to congressional sources, Chandy died at about 4.25 a.m. at a private hospital while receiving cancer treatment.
He served as chief minister twice, for a total of seven years (2004-2006 and 2011-2016).
In previous governments led by K Karunakaran and A K Antony, Chandy served as Minister of Labour, Home, and Finance. He was also the Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly.
Chandy served as the MLA for Puthuppally constituency for over fifty years, breaking the record for the longest tenure.
