Golaghat : The Assam Bandh which show a huge out pour of protests from different districts of Assam with a huge crowd from all corners supporting the cause for rebuking the Citizenship Amendment Bill, also led to many incidents of light violence with many courting arrests.
The Golaghat police arrested four leaders of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) for disrupting rail services by burning tyres on track to support the 12 hour bandh called by a conglomeration of 46 organizations opposing the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

The 4 leaders have been identified as Golaghat district President Pouna Bora, Secretaries Pranjal Duara, Ananta Gogoi and Durlov Tamuli. All hailing from Golaghat.
The 46 organizations had called for the 12 hour statewide bandh on Tuesday in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 and the November 17 convention organized by organizations representing Bengali Hindus in the state in support of the Bill.

The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 was introduced in the Lok Sabha to amend the Citizenship Act, 1955. The Bill amends the Citizenship Act, 1955 to make illegal migrants who are Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan, eligible for citizenship.
