Digital Desk: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) searched 17 locations linked to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his daughter, Misa Bharti, in connection with a land-for-jobs scam on Friday (May 20).
Several places in Patna, Gopalganj, and Delhi are being searched, including those associated with Lalu, his wife Rabri, and their daughter Misa.
According to the allegation, the RJD chief has taken some portions of land in exchange for jobs. CBI sources quoted that the scandal occurred when Lalu Prasad Yadav was the railway minister.
"Land was taken in exchange for jobs from specific people while Lalu Prasad Yadav was railway minister," CBI claimed. Reportedly, CBI launched a preliminary investigation, which has now been upgraded into an FIR.
This comes after the RJD leader was released on bail in a fodder fraud case a few weeks ago. He's already been found guilty in the previous four cases involving fodder fraud and has also been charged in the fifth and final case.
The Rs 950-crore fodder scandal entailed illicit withdrawals of public funds from government treasuries across undivided Bihar districts. Lalu Prasad was sentenced to 14 years in prison and was fined Rs 60 lakh.
