Earlier, in a video, Sanjib Sarma stated that he joined the banned rebel outfit as an Assam police secret agent and alleged that he was backed by Joint Police Commissioner Partha Sarathi Mahanta and army official Dhunumoni Saikia.
Digital Desk: Banned rebel outfit United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) has sentenced death penalty to Dhanjit Das and Sanjib Sarma, the banned outfit informed today (May 7).
According to the statement released by the ULFA-I on Saturday, Dhanjit Das alias Roopak Asom of Barpeta district allegedly tried to flee the Salman camp on April 24; however, he was detained by a travelling team of ULFA-I on April 25.
"After being apprehended, Dhanjit Das was questioned by a team of ULFA, during which he admitted that he inspire some of the other cadres to abandon the camp. He further admitted of sending inside information of ULFA-I to the Assam Police," the statement reads.
On the other hand, the outlawed organization in Myanmar detained Sanjib Sarma of Muktapur in Baihata Chariali, who was allegedly a secret agent of the Assam Police.
Earlier, in a video, Sanjib Sarma stated that he joined the banned rebel outfit as an Assam police secret agent and alleged that he was backed by Joint Police Commissioner Partha Sarathi Mahanta and army official Dhunumoni Saikia.
In the video, Sarma said, "I met Partha Sarathi Mahanta and Dhunumani Saikia four years back through my brother who was a para commando and was murdered in Manipur. Partha Sarathi Mahanta told me to join ULFA to take revenge for my brother's murder which he said that ULFA had killed him. Also, he said he would pay me Rs 1 crores immediately after the mission's success."
"He (Partha Sarathi Mahanta) trained me and some of the individuals in martial arts, shooting, etc., before joining the ULFA," he added.
Further, Sarma claimed that he had previously done several missions for the police and army.
"Before joining ULFA-I, I worked in various Army and police missions for which I was paid Rs 10,000 to 20,000 per missions," Sarma claimed.
"They (Assam police) instructed me to tell a lie if I got caught. A secret password was also handed to me and was instructed to disclose the password if I got exposed. 7896 is the password that was given to me," he added.
