Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella loses his son at the age of 26
Digital Desk: Microsoft Corp. announced the death of Zain Nadella, the son of Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella and his wife Anu, on Monday morning. He was 26 years old at the time.

The business told its top executives through email that Zain had died. According to the message, Microsoft executives were asked to keep Satya Nadella's family in their thoughts and prayers while also giving them room to grieve quietly.

Zain was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth. In a blog post in October 2017, Satya Nadella discussed the birth of his son.

"One night, during the thirty-sixth week of her pregnancy, Anu noticed that the baby was not moving as much as she was accustomed to. So we went to the emergency room of a local hospital in Bellevue. We thought it would be just a routine checkup, little more than new parent anxiety. In fact, I distinctly remember feeling annoyed by the wait times we experienced in the emergency room. But upon examination, the doctors were alarmed enough to order an emergency cesarean section. Zain was born at 11:29 p.m. on August 13, 1996, all of three pounds. He did not cry," he wrote.

"Zain was transferred from Bellevue Hospital across Lake Washington to Seattle Children's Hospital, which has a cutting-edge Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Anu's recuperation following the tough birth began. I stayed with her in the hospital that night and went to see Zain the next morning. I had no idea how drastically our lives would alter. Over the following several years, we discovered more about the damage caused by in utero asphyxiation, as well as how Zain would use a wheelchair and rely on us due to severe cerebral palsy. I was heartbroken. But ultimately, I was disappointed with how things turned out for Anu and me."
