Digital Desk: Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani turns 66 today, on April 19, 2023. He was born on April 19, 1957, in Yemen to Dirubhai Ambani and Kokilaben Ambani. His father, Dhirubhai Ambani, created Reliance Industries in 1966. Mukesh and his younger brother Anil jointly took over Reliance's leadership after Dhirubhai passed away in 2002. While his elder brother took over as chairman and managing director, Anil was assigned as vice chairman and joint managing director. However, the brothers fought over control, resulting in split, with Mukesh obtaining control of the gas, oil, and petrochemical industries as RIL, and Anil gaining control of the telecommunications, power generation, and financial services units via a demerger. In his succession plan for Reliance Industries Ltd. last year, Mukesh Ambani named his twins Akash and Isha for leadership in the telecom and retail sectors, and his youngest son Anant for the new energy unit.

1. Mukesh Ambani is the chairman and CEO of Reliance Industries, a $104 billion (revenue) company with holdings in petrochemicals, oil and gas, telecommunications, and retail. According to Forbes, his net worth is $84.1 billion, making him the world's 13th richest billionaire.
2. Mukesh Ambani was born in Aden, Yemen, where his father worked as a petrol station attendant. He received a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Bombay (now the University of Mumbai) and a master's degree in business administration from Stanford University. However, he left the program in 1981 to join the family business, as where he worked to broaden the business by entering into communications, infrastructure, petrochemicals, petroleum refining, polyester fibers, and oil and gas production.
3. Mukesh Ambani owns the 27-story Antilla, which is among the world's most costly residential spaces. The building has, technically, 60 floors. The bottom six floors of his Antilia are allocated for parking his expensive cars, which include the Maybach, Rolls Royce Cullinan, BMW 760 Li, and others.
4. Apart from that, he owns a grand, luxurious hotel named Mandarin Oriental in New York, which is a 900-year-old hotel in London. He is also well-known for having a collection of ultra-luxurious private jets. He has a total of three private jets.
