An FIR has been registered against editor-in-chief of Republic TV, Arnab Goswami and two others identifiesd as Feroz Sheikh and Nitesh Sarda for abetment of suicide after a 53 year old interior designer and his mother committed suicide on Saturday.
The case is registered at Alibaug Police Station after the deceased interior designer Anvay Naik killed himself and left a suicide note stating that he and his mother were forced to commit suicide. The suicide note states that the three accused had not paid his dues which collectively amount to Rs 5.40 crore.
FIR against Arnab Goswami in suicide abetment case
The Alibaug Police recovered the bodies of mother–son duo from Naik’s farmhouse in Kavir Village, Alibaug on Saturday. The police recovered Naik’s body on the first floor and his mother’s body was found on the ground floor.
Following this, Naik’s wife lodged a complaint against the three accused at the Alibaug Police Station in which she states that Arnab Goswami along with the other three did not pay dues amounting to Rs 83 lakh for the Bombay Dyeing Studio project and other Rs 4 crore taken by Feroz Sheikh for a project in Andheri while Nitesh Sarda did not pay Rs 55 lakh for projects in Magarpatta and Baner.
Niranjan Narayanaswamy, editor, republic TV reacting on the issue stated, “certain vested interest groups are running a false and malicious campaign and making false statements and innuendos against republic TV by exploiting a tragic event involving the unfortunate demise of Anvay Naik. All amounts due and payable under the contract were paid by Republic TV to Concorde Designs. All such details and evidence will be given to the appropriate authorities as and when required.”
While on other hand, Arnab Goswami couldn’t be reached for his reply on this controversial issue.
