    Digital Desk: To mark International Women’s Day, KADlien’s recent export project was initiated on 8 March 2024. This initiative by KADlien exemplifies the spirit of collaboration, empowerment, and celebration of women’s contributions to global trade. This women-initiated trial shipment containing tea, spices and super food reached Muscat in Oman which promotes products from India’s North East and East.KADlien was co-founded by our femalepartner Mrs Atashi B Das. She has invested in this KADlien International Women’s Day special export project highlighting the significant role of women in developing North East India as an export Hub.

     


    Exporting from North East India


    The trial shipment of Spices from North East India contained Lakadong Turmeric, found in Meghalaya’sJaintia Hills. It is known as the world's best turmeric due to its high curcumin content and several health benefits. This turmeric was processed through a project led by woman entrepreneur MrsMonalisha Baruaof Miha Trading. The shipment also included other items such as organic ginger powder, prepared by Meghalaya Government establishments and Meghalaya green tea which was identified, tested, and proposed by Ms RickmaiShangma of Garo Hills.  Besides these, the shipment contained Assam’s green tea blended with Rose, Jasmin, and Chemomile; Black CTC high-grown tea; and Assam orthodox tea.  The shipment also carried Makhana ‘fox nut’, known as a superfood.  The lotus seed makhana is an ancient Indian food, cultivated since prehistoric times in the Indian state of Bihar. Makhana, due to its different nutritional and healing properties, is extremely useful for those suffering from high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. It is also known to contain an anti-ageing enzyme. This export product project was led by a female college student Ms Anwesha Yadav of Don Bosco, Guwahati, Assam.



    Logistics and Coordination


    This Air Cargo shipment and logistics were handled from Kolkata by woman members of Seashell Logistics, Kolkata including Ms Anamika Sarma and her Guwahati-based team member Mr Abinash Das. The export paperwork formalities and certifications were handled by Mrs Swati Agarwal practising company secretary, Gujarat.



     Importer’s Perspective: Adams Waves, Oman


    In Oman, the shipment was imported by Adam Waves, Oman and the project was led by Madam Jokha Seif Al Mahrooqi along with company lead members MrNasser Seif Al Mahrooqiand Mr Shamis Seif Al Mahrooqi. This Cargo reached Adam Wearhouse in Muscat, Oman on 8 April and the clients were excited to unbox the indigenous products from North East and East India. KADlien too has started its first international office in Muscat Oman for both export import and cross trading services.
