Guwahati: After the repeal of the three farm laws by the centre, groups against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) has decided to intensify the anti-CAA stir in Assam with a protest planned for December 12, the report said.
Political organizations Raijor Dal and Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), formed by the CAA protest leaders, are now discussing with the other groups to resume, intensify the protest in the coming days. Moreover, several organizations plan to resume the agitation, including the All Assam Student Union (AASU).
However, the question arises will they be able to force the government to repeal CAA.

Earlier, many mass protests were held in the state against the ruling political parties, including the 200 MW Subansiri Lower Project that staged a protest against the then ruling party Congress by more than 20 organizations, including BJP, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti and AASU. The BJP joined hands with KMSS in the protest against the construction.
Notably, the completed Subansiri project will start from August 2022
Likewise, the protest against the implementation of CAA seems like going in vain after the covid outbreak, which is one of the reasons to stop the protest.
However, during the covid time, the protest against the farm laws in the Singhu border continued nullifying all the rules and regulations set by the government.
Significantly, in Assam, it cannot be seen during the covid days; instead, the leaders of the CAA protest formed their party for their political benefit. This shows that the people of Assam is more interested in building their career rather than raising a continuous voice towards the Citizenship Amendment Act. We can observe that Assam is moving behind a leadership quality determination to withdraw CAA.
On the other hand, we can say that the political parties used the issue as a weapon for the vote bank.
Till now, be it the protest staged against CAA or Subansiri Lower Project, organizations and political parties were unable to change the government decisions wrapping up before the ruling government to do of its own as they like it.
