Guwahati : The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) declared Class 10 results on May 15th, 2019. While the pass percentage saw a relative 4.19 per cent increase in comparison to the previous year, Assam Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya is miffed with the “poor performance” of the Guwahati based government schools in the examination.
The total pass percentage is 60.23. This year, the number of boys that passed the examination stood at 62.69 per cent while the pass percentage among the girls stood at 57.99.
The Education Minister showed displeasure over the unsatisfactory results of the Government schools especially in Guwahati. “We will soon speak with the principals of these schools to check the loopholes,” Siddhartha Bhattacharya said to the media.
The Education Minister also mentioned that an investigation will be carried out against those who circulated the results on social media hours before they were officially declared.
“Stringent action will be taken against those who circulated rumours on social media. WhatsApp groups will also be scrutinized in relation to the matter. We will take the help of the cyber crime cell of Assam police to detect the culprits,” the Minister said.
