Digital Desk: On Saturday, action star Akshay Kumar paid tribute to those who died in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
Akshay took to Twitter with a poster of victims who were killed in the Mumbai terror attack and a comment. He stated, "Remembering the innocent victims and these Bravehearts of the #MumbaiTerrorAttack who laid down their lives 14 years ago on 26/11. #NeverForget."
The heinous bombardments, which began on November 26, 2008, lasted four days and killed at least 174 people, including 20 security personnel and 26 foreign nationals, and injured more than 300 others in the terror attacks carried out by 10 gunmen from the Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Terrorists with automatic guns and hand grenades attacked citizens at several locations in Mumbai's southern outskirts, including the Chhatrapati Shivaji train station, the famed Leopold Cafe, two hospitals, and a theatre.
While the majority of the attacks ended within a few hours of starting at around 9.30 p.m. on November 26, the terror continued to unfold at three locations where hostages were taken - the Nariman House, which housed a Jewish outreach centre, and the luxury hotels Oberoi Trident and Taj Mahal Palace and Tower.
Following the attack, it was discovered that the ten terrorists had sailed to Mumbai from Karachi, Pakistan's port city. They travelled to Mumbai by seizing a fishing dingy and murdering four of the five men on board, leaving one occupant to take them to the Mumbai coast.
In these heinous acts, nine terrorists were slain, while the lone survivor, Ajmal Amir Kasab, was apprehended and ultimately hung at Pune's Yerwada Central Jail in 2012.
Meanwhile, Akshay was last featured in the action-adventure flick 'Ram Setu,' co-starring Jacqueline Fernandez, which received positive reviews at the box office.
He will soon be seen in the forthcoming entertaining film Selfie,' alongside Emraan Hashmi and Diana Penty, as well as Anand L Rai's next film 'Gorkha.'
