Before he passed away, Mangal was admitted to a hospital in Ludhiana. Further details about his last rites are awaited. Mangal Dhillon passed away just a week before his birthday, that is, June 18.

    In the Punjabi district of Faridkot, Mangal Dhillon was born to Sikh parents. He attended Panj Graayin Kalan Government School for his early years of education. Later, he relocated to an area of Uttar Pradesh close to his father's property. Mangal received his high school diploma from Zila Parishad in the Lakhimpur Kheri district's Nighasan.

    The late actor worked at a theatre job in Delhi as well. In 1980, he completed a postgraduate diploma programme in acting. In 1986, the TV show Katha Sagar served as Mangal's entry point into the entertainment field. He made an appearance in Buniyaad, another TV show, that same year. He has also appeared in several more shows, including Junoon, Kismat, The Great Maratha, Panther, Ghutan, Sahil, Maulana Azad, Mujrim Hazir, Rishta, Yug, and Noorjahan.

    Aside from television, Mangal Dhillon has been in a large number of feature films, such as Khoon Bhari Maang, Zakhmi Aurat, Dayavan, Kahan Hai Kanoon, Naaka Bandi, Amba, Akayla, Janasheen, Train To Pakistan, and Dalaal. In 2017, he made his final appearance as Lakha in the movie Toofan Singh.
