Digital Desk: The 77th British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards (BAFTA) was held at the Royal Festival Hall in London on 18th February, Sunday. The award ceremony was hosted by actor David Tennant and saw Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone present an award in the Best Film Not in The English Language category.

It was Deepika Padukone’s first appearance in BAFTA presenting the award for the Best Film Not in The English Language. She said, "The incredible stories nominated in this category depict real and imagined worlds that stay with us long after the credits roll. From the Alps to the Andes, Southern Poland to Seoul, the nominees are...and the BAFTA goes to The Zone of Interest.”

The big winners of the night included “Oppenheimer” and “Poor Things”. The Christopher Nolan-directed film “Oppenheimer” clinched as many as seven awards such as Best Film, Best Director for Christopher Nolan, Best Actor for Cillian Murphy, and Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr.

Though India had nothing in the nominations for BAFTA 2024 Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone in a white shimmering saree from Sabyasachi stole everyone’s heart. Her OOTN gave the actress “Shanti Priya Vibe” as in her first film where she played the role of 70’s Bollywood actress, fans said.
