Digital Desk: A day after singer Zubeen Garg stirred controversy by referring to the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) as a 'fotua party,' a complaint has been lodged against him by the AJP's Morigaon district unit. The complaint was filed at the Morigaon Sadar Police Station, alleging that Garg had tarnished the party's reputation.

The incident unfolded after Zubeen Garg, known for his outspoken nature, openly criticized the AJP during a public event. He stated, "AJP is a fotua party. After participating with me in the CAA protest, they formed a political party."

The comment did not sit well with the AJP, especially its President Lurinjyoti Gogoi, who promptly responded to Garg's allegations. Gogoi expressed bewilderment at the singer's remarks, citing a previous interaction between the two during the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests in Chandmari field. Gogoi claimed that it was Garg who encouraged them to establish a new political entity at that time.

According to Gogoi, "It is mysterious why he made such an inappropriate comment on our party as he was the one who asked us to form a new political party during CAA protests in Chandmari field. After we launched the AJP party, he called at around 3 a.m. motivating me that I have the capabilities of leadership. He might have forgotten that he asked for the new political party or that he called me to congratulate, but I haven’t."
