'I Am Scared now, Very Scared': Kangana Ranaut REACTS to Karan Johar's comment on her upcoming film Emergency

Kangana Ranaut, an actress-turned-director-turned-producer, recently said that making the movie Emergency helped her gain a better understanding of modern Indian history.

Digital Desk: Following Karan Johar's comment that he is eager to watch her film Emergency, Kangana Ranaut responded. She posted on Instagram to express her fear, saying that when he was previously 'eager to see Manikarnika, the worst smear campaign of her life was unleashed.'

She tweeted, “Ha ha last time when he said he was excited to see Manikarnika, the worse smear campaign of my life was unleashed upon me on its releasing weekend … almost all main actors working in the film were paid to sling mud on me and sabotage the film and suddenly the most successful weekend of my life was turned in to a living nightmare for me.”

For the uninitiated, Karan Johar was asked during an interview with Indian Express about one political event he would love to see on television, and his response was, "The Emergency is being made and I am excited to watch it."

Kangana Ranaut, an actress-turned-director-turned-producer, recently said that making the movie Emergency helped her gain a better understanding of modern Indian history. Emergency is set to be released soon. 'Emergency,' starring Kangana as the former Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi, chronicles the events of the state of emergency that Gandhi established in 1975, which is regarded as one of the darkest eras of Independent India because all civil liberties, including press freedom, were restricted.

Talking about the same Kangana shared: "Through the course of filming Emergency, learning about the events that unfolded in 1975 gave me a deeper understanding of Indian history. People call it the darkest phase in Indian history, but a lot of people don’t understand why Indira Ji made that decision. With the film, I aspire to bring that side of the story out too. I am sure, a lot of people will view those events in a different light after watching the film."

The late Satish Kaushik, Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, and Milind Soman all play significant roles in the movie. Emergency, which is produced and directed by Kangana Ranaut and contains a screenplay by Ritesh Shah and a story by her, is a Manikarnika Films production. The movie will be released on November 24, 2023.
