Digital desk: Just a few days ahead of the release of Randeep Hooda's directorial debut Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, Randeep has left the Internet buzzing by sharing a behind-the-scenes picture from the sets of the movie. We can see some of the drastic physical modifications that Randeep had to undergo for the role in the monochrome mirror selfie.

In the movie, the actor portrays Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Randeep Hooda, who is slender, is seen in the photo sporting baggy shorts. Randeep shared the picture and captioned it, "Kaala Paani." The photo appears to have been taken during Randeep's filming of the cellular jail scene from Kaala Paani.

Ranjit Savarkar, the grandson of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, in an interview, said that Randeep Hooda lost thirty kilograms in preparation for the movie. Praising the actor's dedication Ranjit said, "I had discussions with Randeep Hooda several times, he put so much work into making this movie that he lost thirty kilograms. The film serves as a medium for communicating history to a new generation. I hope that he and other revolutionaries become the subject of more movies."

Randeep had previously posted photos of him visiting Savarkar's prison cell at Kalapani. He disclosed that he had sequestered himself in the detention cell to 'feel what he must have gone through.' He captioned the photo, "During the recce on his biopic I tried to lock myself inside this cell to feel what he must have gone through. I couldn’t stay locked for even 20 minutes where he was locked for 11 years often in solitary confinement."

This is not the first time that Randeep is playing such a role. Before that, he was seen in Omung Kumar's directorial biopic of Sarbjit Singh, where he played the role of a resident from Bhikiwind, Punjab who was mistaken to be an Indian spy and was sentenced to capital punishment.
