    Ahmedabad: Sabarmati Ashram in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad saw an unusual guest at their doorstep yesterday. Bollywood actor Salman Khan visited Mahatma Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram yesterday to promote his film ‘Antim’. Salman Khan was also seen spinning the charkha and weaving Khadi.





    The actor also took a tour of the Hriday Kunj, which was the residence of Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi till 1930.





    An ashram official revealed that Salman Khan even surprisingly weave out thread, which is otherwise difficult for those trying out a charkha for the first time.” Khan was also gifted a charkha replica.

    Visitors were surprised to see Salman Khan in the ashram and posed for pictures with the star even as Salman Khan signed off in the ashram visitor’s book while taking a tour of the area. Khan wrote on the book, “I am so privileged (sic) to come here. I absolutely love it. Tt’s a great honour and will never forget this place ever. My 1st time on the charkha was fun and amazing. Lots of respect. God bless Gandhiji’s soul the father of the nation hope to visit again when I come back to learn more…” According to an official from the Sabarmati Ashram Preservation and Memorial Trust (SAPMT), which manages the ashram at present, the actor’s PR agency had contacted last night informing of a visit. “It was confirmed last night that he is expected to visit on Monday morning following, which we informed his agency that there are certain rules that will be required to be followed in the ashram, such as he cannot promote his visit. The entire visit lasted about 12-15 minutes and he was very amazed by the ashram and surprised that was keen to visit again.” Meanwhile, Salman and Aayush Sharma starrer Antim: The Final Truth has received positive response upon its release.
