    Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Shaikh join Vicky Kaushal in 'SamBahadur'

    Mumbai: Actresses Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh newly joined the cast of Meghna Gulzar's SamBahadur.' Both the actresses are all set to play vital roles in the upcoming movie.





    The movie SamBahadur is a biopic of Sam Manekshaw, who was the Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.





    Manekshaw's military profession spanned four decades and five wars. Interestingly, this year marks 50 years of the 1971 war. As a tribute to the valiant contributions of Sam Manekshaw, this movie will portray his life and career.





    The movie highlights the lead role of Vicky Kaushal, who will play the role of reel Manekshaw. As per sources, Sanya Malhotra will be playing the role of Manekshaw's wife in the film. Moreover, Fatima Sana Shaikh will be seen as playing the role of Indira Gandhi, the nation's first female Prime Minister.

    Director Meghna Gulzar stated, "I have much to glorify... There is satisfaction in the remembrance of 50 years of the historic win of our forces in the 1971 War. And it's very compelling to have Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh enter the cast of Sam Bahadur. Both their roles in the film need a great value of acuity, grace, and serenity. I'm looking forward to the ladies bringing these characters to life."





    Sanya Malhotra stated, "Behind every great man is a woman. Silloo Manekshaw was that support and strength to Sam Bahadur with immense satisfaction of joining the team. I'm honoured to essay this role and bring to light her integral part and influence in this war hero's life. I'm also extremely thankful to Meghna Gulzar and really looking forward to this exciting journey with her."





    Moreover, Fatima Sana Shaikh added, "I'm very happy to join the SamBahadur family. I am happy to take on essaying the role of one of the most influential women in Indian history. What intrigued and excited me the most was the passion with which the makers hope to honour his memory and legacy through this film."





    Ronnie Screwvala produces the film. This film is the second collaboration between Meghna Gulzar and Vicky Kaushal after their 2017 "Raazi." Also after Kaushal and Screwvala "Uri: The Surgical Strike".
