Digital Desk: The long-awaited day has arrived. Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal are all set to get married today, after years of keeping their relationship out of the public eye. The couple will exchange their vows at an intimate ceremony, attended exclusively by close family and friends.
Sonakshi and Zaheer will have a civil marriage, which will take place at Zaheer's residence. Following this, they will host a celebration at the popular restaurant Bastian in Mumbai. Before the festivities today, the couple organized an indoor gathering for their loved ones on June 20, followed by a mehendi ceremony on June 21. Among the attendees at these events were Sonakshi’s parents, Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha.
Shatrughan's presence at the party dispelled any rumors suggesting he wasn't supportive of the union and might not attend the wedding ceremony. Earlier, there had been speculation after Shatrughan mentioned to Times Now that he was "waiting to be informed" about his daughter's wedding, and remarked, "All I can say is, aaj kal ke bachche consent nahin lete maa-baap ke, sirf inform karte hain (Nowadays, children don’t seek permission from parents, they simply inform them)."
Later, the vateran actor dismissed rumors of any family discord and affirmed his attendance at the wedding. "I will definitely be there at the wedding. Why wouldn’t I be? Her happiness is mine, and vice versa. She has every right to choose her partner and plan her wedding," he told Zoom. He also commented on the couple, saying Sonakshi and Zaheer "make a lovely pair."
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal initially kept their relationship very private, avoiding public photos together and shying away from paparazzi. Zaheer made his acting debut in the Salman Khan-produced film Notebook. According to reports, Zaheer and Sonakshi first met at a party hosted by Salman Khan, who also launched Sonakshi's career with the blockbuster film Dabangg.
The couple later starred together in the 2022 comedy-drama Double XL, alongside Sonakshi's close friend Huma Qureshi. By then, they were already in a relationship. However, they made their first public appearance as a couple in 2023 at Aayush Sharma and Arpita Khan’s Eid celebration.

While the guest list for the wedding ceremony from the Hindi film industry remains undisclosed, Shatrughan Sinha's brothers are traveling from America to join the celebrations. It's uncertain if Salman Khan, who is close to the couple, has also been invited.
