Digital Desk: Actor Aditya Pancholi has moved the Bombay high court seeking quashing of an FIR registered against him in a rape case by a prominent Bollywood actor.
In his defence, Pancholi claimed that although an FIR against him was filed in 2019, during the course of the following three years, neither a charge sheet nor a motion to close the case had been made by the Versova police station of the Mumbai police. The Mumbai Police arrested Aditya Pancholi for rape in 2019.
Shaikh sent lawyer Abhinav Chandrachud to represent Pancholi, and he made the argument that no charges should be filed. He stated that there hadn't been any progress in the inquiry.
Chandrachud said that the most appropriate move for the prosecution would be to file a B-Summary report if there was no evidence in the case. Chandrachud stated, "The matter has been pending since 2019, my client is living with the stigma of the prosecution, and a sword hangs continuously over his head."
Pancholi came before the court to ask for instructions on how to inform the prosecution of the trial's developments. Following the hearing of the arguments, the bench of Justices NM Jamdar and NR Borkar sent notifications to the victim actor and the Versova police station.
The bench has requested information from the police station regarding the status of the inquiry that was started in 2019.
