"I lost my voice two years ago..."Shekhar Opens Up About Overcoming Vocal Paralysis

I thought I’d never sing again...

Digital Desk: Renowned singer and composer Shekhar Ravjiani, best known for hits like Tujhe Bhula Diya, Bin Tere, and Meherbaan, recently shared the most personal experience of overcoming his vocal paralysis. The singer and composer, who is popularly known as one-half of the duo Vishal Shekhar, revealed he lost his voice two years ago due to vocal paralysis, a condition diagnosed by Dr. Nupur Nerurkar.

In a heartwarming social media post, Shekhar recalled how he felt devastated, thinking he would never sing again. "I was really pessimistic. I thought I'd never sing again," he wrote. He met Dr. Erin Walsh during this time, who guided him through the recovery process over Zoom, especially during the COVID-19 lockdown. Mr. Walsh reassured him that he could sing again and helped him regain confidence.

Shekhar shared how, despite initial struggles, his voice gradually returned to normal within a week. "Thanks to Dr. Erin Walsh for being my angel on this earth," he expressed gratefully. Vishal Dadlani, Shekhar's long-time collaborator, commented, acknowledging the courage it took for Shekhar to recover. “I still see how you are taking care of your voice and mental health,” Vishal added, admiring Shekhar’s resilience.
