Guwahati : Eminent Assamese actress Zerifa Wahid, known for her versatile role portrayal has been nominated for the award of Best Actress for her film ‘Bhoga Khirkee’ in one of the biggest Indian Film Festivals that will be held in Melbourne. The event will be held at Palais Theatre, St. Kilda, Melbourne on August 8th, 2019.

Zerifa Wahid is nominated with other popular names from the Bollywood film industry which include, Tabu for Andhadhun, Neena Gupta for Badhaai ho, Alia Bhatt for Gully Boy. Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta has also been nominated for the film Ahaa Re and Ladakhi actress Jigmeet Dewa Lhamo has also been nominated for the film Chuskit.
‘Bhoga Khirkee’ is an Assamese film set at the backdrop of socio-political landscape of the state in 2015 of Upper Assam based on the real-life experiences of a village girl.
The film was extensively shot near the Kaziranga National Park and the cast included Zerifa who played the protagonist, actor Seema Biswas, Assamese theatre actor Joy Kashyap, and national award winner Bishnu Khargoriya, among others. The film premiered in the 2018 Guwahati International Film Festival (GIFF).
