Guwahati : Actress Dia Mirza was all praise for Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi who raised the issue of illegal coal mining and illegal tree felling in the state of Assam as well in the northeast in the Lok Sabha during zero hour.
Dia, who is a United Nations Environment Goodwill Ambassador for India, took to Twitter and referred the step as a “national priority” for biodiversity and wildlife protection.
Dia specially thanked as well as praised Pradyut Bordoloi on his initiative to bring to fore the burning issue of the illegal coal mining and coal syndicate taking place in Assam as well in the northeast.

In her Tweet she mentioned that the issue of illegal coal mining is a national issue and thus should be considered as a national priority.
Urging more people to join in this responsibility, Bordoloi replied, “Thank you @deespeak ji. I have always appreciated your tireless campaign for environment protection. We need genuine voices like yours to generate awareness and fight the good fight.”
Considering it as a social responsibility, Bordoloi urged the people to participate in reporting as well as campaign for environment protection.
Assam is facing wide-spread activities of illegal coal mining leading to soil erosion, destruction of biodiversity hotspots. The MP has urged the Centre to send an inter-ministerial fact-finding team to Upper Assam to probe “large scale illegal coal mining”.
