Guwahati : Since its inception in 1974, the World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5 in more than 100 countries. The World Environment Day provides an opportunity to broaden the “basis for an enlightened opinion and responsible conduct by individuals, enterprises and communities in preserving and enhancing the environment,” according to the United Nations.
Every year, the World Environment Day is organized around theme in order to draw attention towards pressing environmental issues.
“Beat Air Pollution”, the theme for World Environment Day 2019 is a call for action call to combat the global crisis and has been chosen by this year’s host, China.
The topic invites people to consider how they can change their everyday lives to reduce the amount of air pollution and thwart its contribution to global warming and its effects on health, according to the global body.
As a responsibility to safeguard and keep our environment clean and green as well protect mother earth, Prag News Channel has taken up the initiative to go eco-friendly and spread awareness of nurturing our earth. Considering it as our responsibility and priority, the institution has taken the initiative to go eco-friendly with this year’s Prag Cine Award event to encourage maintaining and conserving our mother earth.
The organizing committee distributed recycled papers, eco-friendly hampers containing eco-friendly seed pencils, seed papers, and woven hand books during a press meet keeping in mind our social responsibility of guarding our mother earth on this World Environment Day. No Plastic was used or given to the press members keeping the message of an eco-friendly environment in mind. Sustainability and conservation are two coordinated approach towards a greener and cleaner world.
The depleting condition of the Brahmaputra River has forced our hands to take up necessary measures to conserve and protect our environment. Our initiative for an eco-friendly environment is aimed at matters like such and also all-round improvement of Assam’s environment.
