The purpose of the day is to raise awareness about the importance of the environment and to remind people that nature should not be taken for granted.
According to the United Nations, "The celebration of this day provides us with an opportunity to broaden the basis for an enlightened opinion and responsible conduct by individuals, enterprises, and communities in preserving and enhancing the environment.
World Environment Day 2022: Theme
The theme of World Environment Day 2022 is "Only One Earth." It advocates for policy and lifestyle changes that will enable cleaner, greener, and more sustainable living in harmony with nature.
It will emphasize the need to live sustainably and in harmony with nature and our options for transitioning to a greener lifestyle through both policies and individual choices.
2022 Environment Day Host Country
Every year, a different country hosts World Environment Day, where celebrations and meetings occur. Sweden is the host country this year.
This year, a high-level international meeting is organized with the help of UNEP and other partners.
